Food Again!

Green Thumb or Black Finger

I love orchids. They possess such a graceful looking. Well, we have had killed a quit few. Until now, I still do not think that I master the secret to raise orchid. One day, our friend Marion visits us and complimented me having green finger instead of green thumb. Well it appears that I had black finger for orchids and hope that that finger is getting green.

Day Is Hot

It was hot in the day time up to 97F. I tried to sketch my vision -prairie style. The inspiration comes from a rain garden presented in Garden Design. It immediately connected me with our experiementing in Atlanta garden to grow daylily among monkey grass. The style really catched my imagination. Every time I called the vision as the rain garden when I tried to explain to my gardening friends. It confused people a bit. Then I realize that it is more appropriate to call it a prairie garden. It seems that I never heard this terminology before it comes to my mind. Afterward, I see the reference a quite bit. The most vivid reference is presented in front of my eyes every days when I drive through the open wild landscapes many times between Athens and Columbus. But it is just intriguing to suddenly come to realization. It is simply natural, can be chic and low maintenance. Well before we get there, we have to dig out all the lawn and plant monkey grass. Heck a lot of work !

You Are My Passion

We had a very fun brunch last weekend. My friend Xiang and her friend Raja came from Columbus. We also invited Jane next door neighbor, Laiyee and Bob and their daughter Tali who made a surprise visit for her mom's birthday. Tali just graduated from Princeton University. Sammy's mom and Bc are visiting us and we always enjoy their company. Great food, always wonderful conversation about Athens, politics, bad habits of my Chinese fellows, and ignorance of my American folks. Well I surely cover both ends.

I made this miniature flower arrangement. I just have not done it for quite a while and missed it. It is something that carries my presence without realization. It quietly tells the story of my world and the world around me better than I can tell literally. That is my silient language.

Rare Inspiring Garden From Office Building

Very few office buildings have offered any landscaping that is worthy attention, let alone inspiring. Nationwide is that very few that has a great indoor and outdoor garden in Columbus Downtown office building. Especially I like the one in the back corner of the building. Simple, volume, texture and harmony. It carries my point of view of what the garden is about. The beauty is beyond blossoming and lasts the rotation of seasons.

ALL ABOUT FOOD

Sammy's mom and BC are visiting us. We have been cooking and ate non-stop.

Tonight we had Thai food Sammy made. Two dishes - one with eggplant, beef and green curry and Fried Shrimp. He followed the recipe from Thai Cook book purchased last week in BookLoft of Germany Village in Columbus. It is delicious. Well we will have green tea ice cream tomorrow.

French night last Thursday, four courses - entree, salad, main, desert. That beef stew was yummy after almost a full bottle of wine was dumped in. And our new favorite salad -spinach, Chinese Mango and oliver oil & Lemon juice dressing

Chinese night last Friday, shredded baked tofu, pork with shredded red potato and celery, Pat's favorite Chinese vegtable and silk soft tofu, tomato and pork soup. We finished with shortbread with strawberry and Haagen-Dazs Ic-y Cream.
